Angle head is a type of machine tool accessory. After installing the angle head on the machine tool, the tool rotation center line can machine the workpiece at an angle with the spindle rotation center line. Originating in Europe, it has been widely used in various fields of mechanical processing such as aviation, automobiles, and molds. By using an angle head, the machining range and adaptability can be increased without changing the machine structure, enabling some machining that is difficult to complete using traditional methods to be achieved, and reducing repeated clamping of workpieces, improving machining accuracy and efficiency.

Mainly used for machining centers and gantry milling machines, among which lightweight can be installed in the tool magazine and can be freely converted between the tool magazine and the machine spindle; Medium and heavy-duty have high rigidity and torque, making them suitable for most processing needs.

Due to the expansion of the performance of the machine tool by the angle head, it is equivalent to adding an axis to the machine tool, and even more practical than the fourth axis in situations where large workpieces are difficult to flip or require high precision.

Classified by processing conditions

1. Lightweight angle head - This type of angle head is characterized by its light weight (usually 5-15kg, and even 3kg ultra light weight on the market), high precision, low torque, and the ability to automatically change tools in the tool magazine. This type of angle head is positioned with a positioning block, and the output is generally a cylinder clamp or BT30 taper handle. Sometimes there are special ones that can output CAT or HSK tool holders, and some special ones can be directly connected to a wire tapping or face milling cutter.

2. Heavy duty angle head - This type of angle head is characterized by heavy weight (usually over 50kg), average accuracy, and high torque, and can only be used on gantry machine tools. This type of angle head is fixed and locked with a connecting plate, and can support any type of output for processing.

3. Medium sized angle head - This type of angle head is characterized by medium weight (usually 15-20kg), high accuracy, and moderate torque. This type of angle head has the advantages of both light and heavy weight, with high precision and wider processing range than light weight, making it highly praised in the market.

Classify by output situation

1. Single output angle head - This type of angle head is more common, has better rigidity, and can be widely used in various applications.

2. Dual output angle head - This angle head adopts bidirectional output, with good concentric accuracy and vertical accuracy in both directions, which can effectively solve the trouble of manual angle rotation and meter calibration when users require high precision, avoid repeated errors, and improve production and processing efficiency and accuracy.

3. Vertical and horizontal dual-use angle head - This angle head can be processed vertically and horizontally at the same time. It adopts a bi-directional thrust bearing and umbrella gear separation principle, making calibration more convenient and fast. It uses high-speed thrust bearings inside, fixed in two directions, and can withstand heavy cutting.

4. Wanxiang angle head - also known as angle head, the angle formed by the rotation center line of the tool and the rotation center line of the machine tool spindle can be adjusted. The adjustable angle range is generally 0~90 degrees, but there are also some special adjustable angles exceeding 90 degrees.
