Troubleshooting of Insufficient Flow in Cooling System of High speed Longmen Milling Machine
Date: 2025-11-24Read: 6
As the core equipment for precision machining, the stable operation of the cooling system in high-speed gantry milling machines directly affects machining accuracy and tool life. Insufficient coolant flow can lead to delayed heat dissipation, obstructed chip discharge, resulting in a decrease in workpiece surface quality and increased tool wear. Therefore, quickly locating and resolving traffic shortage faults is crucial for ensuring production continuity.
Troubleshooting should follow the principle of "from simple to complex, from outside to inside", first identifying external factors that are easy to handle, and then delving into core component testing. Firstly, the coolant level should be checked. If the level is below the specified mark, it will cause the pump body to become empty and unable to form effective pressure. At this point, it is necessary to replenish the same type of coolant to the standard level, while observing whether the level drops rapidly and checking for any pipeline leaks.
If the liquid level is normal, the next step is to check the inlet filter screen. The chips and impurities generated during the processing can easily clog the filter screen, leading to an increase in inlet resistance. After turning off the system power, remove the filter screen and use compressed air to blow back or rinse with clean water to restore the permeability of the filter screen. Attention should be paid to regularly cleaning the filter screen to avoid the accumulation of impurities that may cause secondary failures.
If the flow rate still does not recover after cleaning the filter, it is necessary to check the operating status of the coolant pump. Wear of the pump body, impeller jamming, or abnormal motor speed can all cause a decrease in pump output flow. Judging whether the pump is running smoothly and whether there is any abnormal noise by listening to the sound; Observe the pressure gauge reading. If the pressure is significantly lower than the rated value, disassemble the pump body and inspect the internal components. If impeller wear or aging of seals is found, damaged parts should be replaced promptly and reassembled for debugging.
In addition, pipeline bends, blockages, or unopened valves can also cause flow loss. Check for obvious bends along the direction of the pipeline, and for pipelines that have been used for a long time, high-pressure flushing can be used to remove internal deposits. Confirm that all control valves are in the open position to avoid flow restriction due to improper operation.
After the fault is resolved, it is necessary to start the machine for trial operation to check whether the coolant injection position is accurate and whether the flow rate is stable. At the same time, establish a regular maintenance mechanism, including liquid level checks, filter cleaning, pump body maintenance, etc., to reduce the occurrence of insufficient flow faults from the source. Through systematic investigation and standardized maintenance, the reliability of the coolant system can be effectively improved, ensuring the machining quality and production efficiency of high-speed gantry milling machines.
